Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt Sorbet and Ice Cream Maker

Awesome and Easy!5

I purchased this after much debate about whether or not I needed a two quart ice cream maker or just go with the original Cuisinart $49.95 one. I am so glad i bought this one. It is so great. Easy to use makes alot of ice creamso sleek looking.

I have a tiny kicthen and everytime I turn around I am buying something that will clutter my counterspace but I have to say this I don't mind. It is square not to bulky and the cord fits nicely up inside the machine. It doesn't dangle or anything. It's right next to my KitchenAid.

I have made two recipes out of the manual that comes with the machine. I usually don't like "manual recipes" however these are fantastic. The Mango Gelato was a huge hit with family and friends. One girl who doesn't like ice cream liked it. The simple ice creams that dont require making a custard you just mix all the ingredients together and freeze I was thinking it would be terrible. It wasn't so you can make ice cream in 30minutes from start to finish with those recipes.

I do keep the bowl in the freezer like others suggested with the smaller ice cream maker. It has been very useful to have it already frozen when I am ready to make ice cream.

As far as noise it is not as quiet as I thought but don't let that scare you. It's not like turning on a blender and leaving it running for 25 minutes. It's not an annoying noise. Not like the old ice cream makers with the ice and stuff. It is fun to watch it churn too. So the noise just fades to the background.

It's very interactive and a great thing to do with kids and company.

I really can't say enough good. One of the best appliance investments I have mad yet.More detail ...

Cuisinart ICE-21 Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker

Simply Great Ice Cream5

As this product had not been reviewed yet I read several reviews for the Cuisinart ICE-20 Ice Cream Maker before making my decision to purchase this product. Many comments about the ICE-20 mentioned that the ice cream is the consistency of soft serve; some reviewers said it was too soft. I did not find that issue with the ice cream I made with this ice cream maker. I turned my freezer to the coldest setting and froze the bowl for 7 hours. I could not hear any liquid moving in the bowl at that point so I assumed it was solidly frozen. I made the Simple Vanilla Ice Cream recipe from the booklet that came with the machine. After about 20 minutes the ice cream was nicely textured and creamy. It wasn't as hard as the packed ice cream you purchase at the store so I guess you might say the consistency was somewhere between soft serve and store-bought: firmer than soft serve but not as firm as hard pack. As reviewers of the ICE-20 pointed out if the ice cream was frozen as solidly as hard pack in the machine it would be difficult to remove it from the container.

The ice cream is simply wonderful. It has a fresh pure taste that outshines anything I could purchase from the store. I bought it mainly because I wanted to have control of my ingredients. I want to use organic products as much as possible and I want to experiment with soy ice creams; I have thought I might want to get away from dairy products altogether.

This product was listed as the newest version of the ICE-20 and as an upgrade that improves upon the ICE-20 while still keeping its popular features. I don't know what the upgrade consists of but I can say that in 20-25 minutes I had really excellent ice cream that I thought was the perfect consistency. After freezing it for a couple of hours it was firmer and I liked it at that consistency too. I was thinking about how great this ice cream would be with warm apple pie because tasting it really is like tasting fresh vanilla cream. But we're a couple of months away from apple pie season! This product couldn't be simpler to use and I think it will pay for itself fairly quickly in savings over the cost of premium purchased ice cream. And it just tastes better.More detail ...

Hawaiian Shaved Ice - Snow Cone Syrups - 10 Flavor Pack

Delicious Flavored Snow Cones5

Hawaiian Shaved Ice Company rules the shaved ice/snow cone business! Fast shipping and a variety of flavors to die for. These syrups are wonderful with strong tasty flavors not some watered down supermarket syrup that you can't taste after a minute or two. The ten pack variety had enough flavors to please our entire family of seven with no gripes! Re-order form and list of all available flavors and accessories were included with the order. Very pleased with the product. Don't buy a snow cone machine without this purchase to top it off.More detail ...

Hamilton Beach 68010 Snowman Ice Shaver

Snowman Ice Shaver4

I bought this machine before any description or reviews were posted and hoped for the best. I was pleasantly surprised in what this machine can do. One trick to this machine though is to definately freeze the liquid that you want to use in the machine first. Conveniently this shaver comes with two round freezing containers which fit the shaver compartment exactly. I have tried shaving just plain ice first and then adding liquids but because this machine generates snow the snow tends to melt before you get a chance to enjoy it. If you freeze it first the snow cones last a long time and are much better. All that you have to do is put ice into the shaving compartment and push down on the top. You do not have to push for very long or very hard and the entire ice block will be shaved. If you are looking for a manual snow cone machine I would highly recommend this one as an inexpensive reliable candidate.More detail ...

Hawaiian Shaved Ice and Snow Cone Machine Party Package

Great Shave Ice Package4

I think this is a great deal if you're looking for fun and tasty treats. The machine functions noticeably better if the included ice molds are used. Ice cubes work but they take much longer to shave down and you will get chunkier shavings (which do not hold the flavor as well). When using the ice molds make sure to let the ice block sit out for five to ten minutes before shaving ("tempering") and you will end up with icy shavings closer to a snow texture.

The included syrups are tasty sugary and perfect for drizzling over your shaved ice. I would recommend refrigerating your flavors even though you don't have to to slow down how fast they melt the shave ice. The other accessories are fun and would be great for a party but I think reusable cone cups would be a better solution for day to day snacking.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase. The machine works well and isn't outlandishly loud (quieter with ice molds) and can turn out a full cone of shaved ice in under 30 seconds. The texture isn't what I experienced in Hawaii at the famous Waiola Shave Ice but for the money this is pretty close.

Tasty Tip: Place a ball of ice cream in a bowl and cover it with shave ice and syrup for a twist on this delicious treat.More detail ...

Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker

Make your own without all the unnecessary additives5

After reading Mirielle Guiliano's memoir about food entitled "French Women Don't Get Fat" and feeling annoyance over the loss of Total Greek Yogurt on the shelves of my local Whole Food (this is temporary) I decided to buy this yogurt maker and simply make my own.

The procedure is a simple one; heat some milk until bubbles appear on the side of the pan and steam actually rises; take off the stove and pop in the included thermometer. When the milk temperature lowers to a specific window indicated on the thermometer add some milk to 2 tablespoons of purchased plain yogurt or yogurt starter. Mix and then add to the milk in the pan.

As the yogurt maker has slots for 8 containters with lids simply pour an equal amount of the milk from the pan put on the lids cover the yogurt maker and plug the machine in.

The machine sits on a counter; I advise parking it in a place where the digital controls are not interferred with as just one little push will turn the whole thing off. I set my yogurt to "cook" for 14 hours. The result: Great consistancy and flavor that matches store bought without the preservatives and other additives.

The machine includes includes instructions on how to make flavored yogurt; it seems simple but I have not tried it.

Bottom line: this machine does the trick with little or no fuss. I also purchased the yogurt cheese maker which will allow me to turn my homemade yogurt into a spread that I can use on bread in the AM. Doesn't get any better!More detail ...

White Mountain F69206-X 6-Quart Electric Ice Cream Freezer

Painless Way To Make Lots of Wonderful Ice Cream5

Our family loves this ice cream machine! It makes enough ice cream (6 quarts! not 1 to 1-1/2 quarts like the others) for our family gatherings or enough to store for future consumption. It's very simple to operate with the electric motor doing all the work and the Ice Cream is fabulous smooth and creamy. We put it on a "rag rug" on the kitchen floor and everyone gets to help with the adding of ice/salt. It's a bit noisy but my kids consider that part of the fun. Our only complaint is that very few recipes are included with the machine. Solution purchase a book of ice cream recipes to supplement. Some good ones are: Frozen Desserts : The Definitive Guide to Making Ice Creams Ices Sorbets Gelati and Other Frozen Delights which gives DETAILED history/information and The Ice Cream Machine Cookbook by Melissa Clark which includes some very creative ice cream combinations.More detail ...

Hamilton Beach 68050 Icy Treats Ice Shaver White

Love this Snow Cone machine!5

We have purchased several snow cone machines over the years and this is my favorite!!! Each Spring I make snow cones for 4 classrooms full of children (over 100 children). Using the Hamilton Beach Icy Treats Maker this has been our best year! Also we often will do snowcones out in the driveway after school and we'll have a dozen or so kids stop by.

I purchased two of these machines and had them running side by side in the classroom. I was able to make snow cones for 25-30 kids in 20 minutes. I love the cup/bowl that catches the ice. If you have leftover ice or want to make ahead you can throw this bowl in the freezer to use the shaved ice later. Also the easy on/off on this machine is nice. If you put in ice that is the right size (some store bought ice is too big) then there shouldn't be too much trouble with jamming. Once or twice I had to arrange the ice because a larger piece was stuck. I LOVE that most of this machine goes straight into the dishwasher! Also seems very safe to me. The kindergarten class was running both machines and had no trouble!More detail ...

Cuisinart Ice-45 Mix-It-In Soft-Serve 1-1/2-Quart Ice-Cream Maker

Delivers on what it promises - just make sure you understand what it promises!5

In reading the reviews for this product I've noticed that some people may have been expecting something more than what Cuisinart is selling. Having used this unit several times now here are my impressions and thoughts.

- The unit uses a freezer bowl to freeze the product. That means that the bowl MUST be frozen solid and the product MUST be very well chilled otherwise you will not get good results. We have just kept our freezer bowls in the deep freeze when not in use so that we can make ice cream fairly quickly. It's probably best to mix up your soft serve mix at least an hour in advance and put it in the coldest part of your fridge or (as another reviewer suggested) in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to get it as cold as possible without prematurely freezing it.

- The freezer bowl doesn't have a huge capacity. It can make "10-12" servings - if your servings are small. 6-8 is probably more like it. If you want more make certain you purchase an additional bowl and keep it frozen.

- The instructions on time expectations generally say 10-15 minutes and this can be true if you chill the ice cream mixture very thoroughly. Otherwise it will take longer probably more like 15-20 minutes.

- The first serving or so may be fairly soupy - I have found that I can dispense some into a cup and then re-add that into the top of the bowl.

- The "mix-ins" really don't mix in to the soft serve at all they are really topping dispensers. If you're expecting something like a DQ Blizzard it's not the same. Also don't over-fill (or pack in) the mix in bins. I've had good luck with chopped peanuts sprinkles and the mini M&Ms.

The differences between this unit and a more conventional ice cream freezer are mainly that this unit has a freezable bowl vs. a bowl that is placed in a mix of ice and rock salt. That means it is a little more convenient but lacks the capacity of the conventional freezer. Our ice cream freezer makes about twice as much ice cream as the soft serve but it is much louder generally requires more clean up and doesn't dispense the product. On the other side I think a conventional freezer has more versatility if you are making things like frozen custards that set up harder than soft serve. Finally the freezer just isn't really as much "fun" as this one is which has real appeal if you've got kids in the family.

Overall I've really enjoyed this gadget - but I did some research first and made certain I understood what I was buying. This is NOT like the soft serve dispensers in restaurants - but it's very nice for a treat on a summer afternoon.

Love it! Just got it today & already have a gallon of ice cream5

Just received this afternoon. Ran down to the store bought all the ingredients and just threw our first gallon of ice cream in the freezer. It's so cool ... and FUN! We did the quick and easy vanilla recipe that came with the recipe book chopped up some brownies and reeses PB cups and the motor stopped like it's supposed to in just 30 minutes. Soft serve ice cream as good as anything from the store ... and better for us. The directions are VERY simple to follow. We've never made ice cream before and didn't know squat about how to do it. Including time spent going to the store we had our first batch within two hours after FEDEX delivered the package. We were skeptical about the loudness of the motor based on a prior review we read; the motor is really not that loud but the sound it makes is rather obnoxious after about 10 to 15 minutes. However it sounds just like I thought an electric ice cream maker would sound like. So no surprises and SOOOO worth it! The price was awesome too!More detail ...
